What is channa barca?

Channa barca, also known as the "Barca snakehead" or "Barca Channa," is a species of fish from India and Bangladesh. It belongs to the family Channidae and is known for its distinctive appearance, with a black body and white spots or stripes.

Barca snakeheads are predatory fish that can grow up to 60 centimeters in length. They prefer freshwater habitats such as rivers, lakes, and swamps, but can also tolerate brackish water. They are commonly found in slow-moving waters with vegetation and hiding places.

In the wild, Barca snakeheads feed on small fish, crustaceans, and insects. They are also popular among fish enthusiasts as aquarium fish due to their unique appearance and aggressive behavior.

However, due to overfishing and habitat loss, Channa barca is listed as endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List. There are also regulations in place to limit their trade and export.
